Night One: Live Girls Love Laugh Lovers January 26, 2007

The festival began last night with a fun show at the Live Girls Theater. There were streamers, a parade, facepainting, and the audience laughed so hard at one point a man threw away his walker and claimed to be healed.

Then he asked for money and it got awkward.

It was left to veteran comedian Cathy Sorbo to drag him away while Andy Peters distracted everyone with his hilarious shadow-puppet-using-his-feet song and dance routine. At the close of the show as all the comics left the stage the audience spontaneously broke into singing “The Way We Were”, claiming they were sad to see us go. So we handed out flyers for the next shows to cheer them up.

One or more of these items may be incorrect or exaggerated, but not the part about the show happening or how fun it was.

That’s exactly how it happened. And I should know, because I was there.

…and now my Pappy can walk again.
